APPLY FOR EXTENSION OF VISA IN INDIA: Any foreigner who is residing in India on a work basis or on a tourist visa basis and his Visa is about to expire, has to submit an application on https://indianfrro.gov.in/eservices/home.jsp for the extension of visa on or before 60 days before the expiry of the respective Visa.
Valid Reason for Extension of Visa:
However, the extension is not granted in normal circumstances, the foreigner has to give some a valid reason for his Visa Extension.
Overstay cause Fine and Imprisonment:
Under Foreigner Act, 1946 in the event of overstay by a foreigner, there shall be liable for imprisonment of up to 5 years along with the fine and liable for expulsion from India.

HOW TO EXTEND VISA?
Step: 1 LOGIN CREDENTIALS REQUIRED
Creation of Valid User ID and Password on e-FRRO Portal. The mail id and Phone number shall be verified through OTP. https://indianfrro.gov.in/eservices/userlogin.jsp?disclaimer=1
Note: Foreigners shall register with their own email ID and Mobile Number in India for the purpose of receiving OTP (One-Time Password)
Step: 2 ONLINE APPLICATION SUBMISSION
The foreigner may submit an online application, after login with a user id and password.
Step: 3 DOCUMENTS REQUIREMENT
To facilitate the Visa Extension, the foreigner has to attach the following documents along with the
Registration form:
a. All Original Travel documents;
b. Residential Documents:
Passport;
Resident Permit;
Extended Employment contract;
Income Tax Return,
Marriage Certificate;
PAN Card;
Proof of Address.
c. Four Passport size photos
Step: 4 ONLINE FEE PAYMENT
The requisite fees shall be payable online through the Bank Payment gateway on the portal. The SMS/email alert would be intimated to the user while payment of fees.
